appearances
Because of a certain global pandemic and my own writer-hermit ways, I don't make too many in-person appearances, but fortunately the internet is here to cover that gap (and if I do have things in meatspace, I will post them here)--here are links to my author events, starting with the most recent.
The place I appear most often is... my own radio show! In which I preview works in progress, talk about the strange things that happen to me in writing, gush about stories I love (and wonder about the ones I don't), and occasionally interview other authors. Aside from my newsletter, this is the best place to get to know me, with episodes every other week.

April 10, 2022: A Reading with Levi Jacobs
As part of Quarancon 2022, I read the opening of my (at the time) very much work-in-progress novella Thief of Smoke and Sorrow! Plus some tidbits and authorly chat with host and wonderful indie in her own right, Virginia McClain. |
April 9, 2022: Grief, Healing, and Hope in SFF Panel
A panel I did with fellow authors of the Alchemy of Sorrow anthology, in which basically all of us cry for one reason or another! Plus a good discussion of the ways in which fantasy can still grow. |
April 9, 2022 Prologues or Prolags
A panel I moderated on the very controversial pros and cons of prologues in SFF! Which ended up getting past the superficial to some really good points on why or why not to prologue. |
April 8, 2022: Nesting Plot Threads Workshop
A workshop I ran based on a brainchild of mine on how write better middles and more satisfying conclusions, for planners or pantsers, in which I talk at a rapid rate, having consumed more than my daily allotment of caffeine in the moments prior to starting. |
May 17, 2021: Friends Talking Fantasy Podcast
In which me and the friends plan a fantasy novel from the richness of our brains based on three words: Daggers, Betrayal, and Song. |
April 12, 2021: When Series Get Epic panel at Quarancon 2021
In which I and five other authors admit to our long-minded ways, and talk about why we love and write fantasy series that go on... and on... |
January 21st, 2021: Swords and Sports Podcast
In which Mike and I talk about Daughter of Flood and Fury, the fantasy genre at the moment, and he outs me as being unable to build a fantasy world without including... one particular thing. |
